Structured Reporting and aycan workstation Enterprise Edition at ECR 2016

From the 2nd to 6th of March 2016, the European Society of Radiology (ESR) will hold its annual European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in Vienna. aycan will present its aycan workstation Enterprise Edition and multiparametric prostate MRI analysis with structured reporting (PI-RADS) at exhibition booth # 113. The vendor of innovative medical technology will also celebrate its 20th anniversary this year.

aycan will demonstrate clinical parametric analysis for prostate with structured reporting (PI-RADS). This is an optimized workflow for radiologists to evaluate the prostate. Therefor, aycan offers optimized Hanging Protocols. These can be used for various MRI sectors, such as mammography, vessel analysis and teleradiology. The documentation with PI-RADS also allows to attach Key Images to the findings.

Furthermore, interested visitors of the congress are invited to get informed about the aycan workstation Enterprise Edition. It is now possible to exchange reports within a team to simplify the communication. Nevertheless, worklists can be generated individually for each workstation. This allows customers – for example clinics or medical practices – to distribute the workload across multiple locations or report creators and to generate shorter process times.

During the development of the Enterprise Edition, also access speed to the archive increased by factor 3. Not only diagnosing, but also the post-processing (3D, 4D, tomosynthesis, fusion and mammography) with aycan workstation has been significantly improved.

Meet aycan and its team of experts at this year's ECR 2016 at booth 113 (Foyer X4 – former Expo A) for latest products and information. All information about aycan and its solutions can be found on www.aycan.com.

Mac vs. PC—Benefits Validated in IBM Study

aycan has been using Apple Macintosh computers to run its medical solutions for over 10 years due in part to their intuitive interfaces and overall reliability.  A recent study by IBM validates these and other benefits of choosing Mac computers over Windows PCs.

In the study posted on 9to5mac.com, IBM found that only 5% of Apple users contact IT support vs. 40% of Windows PC users.  Because of this, the spending to replace Window’s PC’s with Mac’s is quickly offset by the lower support cost.  In the article, IBM’s VP of Workplace-as-a-Service Fletcher Previn noted, “Every Mac that we buy is making and saving IBM money.”
In these times of cost constraints and budget cuts, hospitals and medical practices need to address reductions in IT spending and switching from PC’s to Macs is one way to significantly do that. aycan can show you how to integrate Mac-based RIS and PACS applications into your environment, so your organization can benefit by the type of cost savings outlined in the article.

Deconstructed PACS and Structured Reporting at the ECR 2015 in Vienna

From 4th to 8th of March 2015 the European Society of Radiology will hold its annual European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in Vienna. aycan will be presenting its PACS solutions from nearly two decades of experience at its exhibition booth 112.

High flexibility, scalability as well as future security is offered by the aycan ‘Deconstructed PACS’ solution. With ‘Deconstructed PACS’, single PACS components (worklist, archives and viewer) can be obtained from different vendors and connected through standardized interfaces into a complete system. With this best-of-breed approach, the PACS can be optimally adapted to the users needs.

PACS solutions from aycan are vendor neutral and use standard interfaces such as DICOM and HL7, which are important for the integration of the individual components.

aycan store for example is a DICOM PACS archive, which has been developed vendor neutral. Thus aycan offers its customers the ability to configure their PACS archive individually and adapt it to their own workflow. Due to the DICOM standard aycan store can be smoothly integrated into common working environments while at the same time providing high reliability and short access times.

In aycan OsiriX PRO medical images from different modalities and formats can be displayed and processed in various ways. The DICOM compatibility, fast image loading-times and an intuitive operation are providing an optimal and improved workflow.

"We at aycan have recognized the value of flexible, vendor neutral PACS-Systems over 15 years ago and therefore designed our products for this concept," says Stephan Popp, CEO of aycan Digitalsysteme. "With our PACS archive aycan store and our multimodal aycan OsiriX PRO Workstation, we can not only provide the archive and viewer component, but instead integrate optimum workflow systems due to our many years of experience."

aycan will also participate in the multimedia classroom. Participants will learn to interpret cases of CT Angiography, MDCT in trauma as well as Cardiac CT and oncologic imaging on different workstations including aycan OsiriX PRO.

Meet aycan and its team of experts on this year ECR 2015 at booth 112 (Expo A) for latest products and information.

All information about the aycan and its PACS-Solutions can also be found on www.aycan.com.

Deconstructing PACS

Using Multiple Brands to Achieve Maximum System Performance

At RSNA 2015, a “Deconstructed PACS” was widely discussed. The concept, well familiar to and employed by aycan for over 15 years, means to use the best vendor/product for each of the components of a PACS (a worklist (RIS, EHR), a PACS viewer and an archive (VNA)) to achieve individual user requirements and maximum system performance.

Keys to Successfully Implementing a Deconstructed PACS Strategy
The key to successfully implementing a Deconstructed PACS strategy is to start with a knowledgeable systems integrator to choose and integrate the right PACS component brands to meet your particular needs and continue with one service provider that will act as the single point of contact for ongoing system service and support. To ensure the effectiveness of this approach, on-site administrative support is required to ensure the service and support vendor is informed and engaged on any individual system component changes, upgrades or updates. This will help minimize diagnosis and resolution time should an issue arise with the system.

Main Advantages of a Deconstructed PACS
Using this "best of brand" approach allows you to attain your preferred workflow without having to put all your eggs in one vendors’ basket.

  • Less compromise on user requirements—get exactly what you need from each system component without having to make compromises.
  • Improved cost efficiency—buy just what you need, not a bundle that may have things you don’t.
  • More vendor independence—it’s easier to replace individual components than an entire system from one vendor.

If you use one source for integration and a single point of contact for service and support, such as aycan, you’ll achieve the same and better benefits as if working with a single brand provider, but without all the added cost and compromise on system performance.

Learn More About how to Deconstruct your PACS
aycan has been designing, integrating and servicing Deconstructed PACS for customers for over 15 years, helping them achieve improved system performance and cost efficiencies. Learn more about this successful strategy direct from our customers by clicking here.
