aycan and Chimaera Announce New Software Tool for Multi-Modal Image Fusion

Chimaera’s easy to use FusionSyncTM integrated into aycan’s OsiriX PRO improves diagnostic workflow 


aycan Digitalsysteme GmbH, a recognized worldwide leader in medical imaging, and Chimaera GmbH, a producer of leading-edge medical imaging software, today announced their partnership to market a new software tool for more efficient handling and diagnosis of multi-modal and follow-up medical data. 


Today, diagnosis, based on follow-up image series, is often a time-consuming task due to missing data alignment and the need for manual adaptions of viewing settings. To address this issue, aycan has paired its aycan workstation OsiriX PRO, an advanced image-processing tool and DICOM PACS workstation, with Chimaera’s FusionSync, a hardware-accelerated automatic image-registration algorithm. Seamlessly integrated in OsiriX PRO, FusionSync’s fast, reliable and automatic-rigid image fusion allows users to easily view multi-modal and follow-up series together for more efficient diagnoses. Users just drag and drop two series together, then quickly navigate through large amounts of data for easy diagnosis based on spatial synchronization. Time-consuming adaptions of view settings are completely eliminated, as all viewing properties are propagated to the linked series. FusionSync currently supports three-dimensional CT, C-Arm CT, MR, PET and SPECT data.

Designed for post-processing and primary diagnosis, the 64-bit fast, Mac-based, vendor-neutral OsiriX PRO is a cost effective, highly functional, advanced image-processing tool and DICOM PACS workstation for conventional, multi-slice and other image reading. Based on the widely known opens source project OsiriX, aycan’s turnkey version has FDA 510(k) clearance and CE Marking with full integration service and customer support.


The new software, with appropriate medical clearances, is expected to be available in late 2012 from aycan. A beta version will be showcased on aycan’s booth #8707 at RSNA’s annual meeting in Chicago, November 27th through December 1st, 2011.
The software is not available in the U.S.

Eine Flensburger Klinik setzt aycan mobile in der Radiologie ein. Wie die Ärztezeitung am 24.9.2011 berichtet, sind sowohl die Patienten als auch die Ärzte vom Einsatz von Apples iPad mit aycan mobile begeistert.

Im Diakonissenkrankenhaus setzt Chefarzt Professor Müller-Hülsbeck die Lösung seit 4 Wochen das iPad für die Visite ein. 

Aktuell prüft die Klinik, ob sich die bestehende Infrastruktur auch für den Hintergrunddienst anwenden läßt.

With the new certified OsiriX PRO Workstation with 64-bit, aycan emphasizes its competence in digital image processing once more. Besides bug fixes, new innovations are also implemented in the latest version.

We have released a new version of our successful xr.ay iPad App. It is renamed to aycan mobile, in order for our preparing for the FDA filing.
